Some companies are born out of ingenuity. Some are born out of necessity. Others are born out of a desire to make things better.

RockySoft was born from all three.

Larry Watson formed RockySoft in 1999, to address a growing need in the marketplace for inventory management software with capabilities that would align with a company’s business objectives. About the same time, Jeffrey Porter (an HP manufacturing development engineer) found himself immersed in business analysis related to supply chains.

As fate would have it, Jeffrey stumbled upon Larry (a former HP employee himself) surrounded by a stack of computers and a quizzical look that said, “There has to be a better way.” The two teamed on several projects, and after years in the inventory-management trenches, RockySoft was born.

RockySoft is a privately held company located in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Rocky Mountains are in our backyard; climbing is in our blood. Our love of climbing is far more associated with confidence and results-getting to the top!-than the risks of getting there. But we also know that successful expeditions don’t just happen-they are the result of careful organization and planning.

Like many mountains, inventory management can seem like an overwhelming obstacle. But it doesn’t have to be if you equip yourself with the right attitude, the right gear, the right route and the right guides to get you safely to the top.
